Position Summary:

WCAC's Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), best known as fuel assistance helps homeowners and renters pay home heating bills and past due balances on utility bills. In addition, WCAC has contracts with the Department of Energy (DOE) and the major local utility companies to install energy conservation measures in eligible homes throughout Central and Southern Worcester County.


The Energy Grants Analyst plays a critical role in overseeing financial operations within the Fuel Assistance and Energy Departments. Their responsibilities include managing budgets, approving expenditures, ensuring accurate receivables and timely payment of invoices. The Grants Analyst will produce monthly financial reports, analyze results, and meet regularly with Energy managers and the Chief Financial Officer to review financial performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/business with 5-7 years relevant business and accounting experience. 
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and analyze financial processes and systems.
  • Experience with accounting software such as Abila MIP and other accounting software desired as well as a working knowledge of Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with WCAC staff and external agencies.
  • Knowledge of government grant/contract compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of foundation and private grant procedures and requirements preferred.
  • Understanding of Accounts Receivable and other accounting operations preferred.
  • Ability to train and assist agency finance and program staff as needed in finance policy and procedures.
