Job Description

The Data Centre Cooling Engineer will be responsible for the commissioning of HVAC and cooling systems within data centers. This role involves ensuring that cooling systems are installed and operating in accordance with project specifications, performance requirements, and regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC systems, cooling technologies, and their application in high-performance data center environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct commissioning activities for HVAC systems (CRAC & CRAH units, In Rpow Cooling Units & Coolant Distribution Units both liquid to air and liquid to liquid style systems, etc.) to ensure proper installation and performance.
  • Perform functional and operational tests of cooling systems to verify that they meet design specifications.
  • Conduct load and performance testing to evaluate the system's efficiency under operational conditions.
  • Ensure cooling systems comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and project specifications (ASHRAE, BREEAM, etc.).
  • Develop and implement detailed commissioning plans, including test scripts, procedures, and performance benchmarks.
  • Ensure all commissioning activities adhere to safety regulations and best practices.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with HVAC and cooling systems during the commissioning process.
  • Assist in the fine-tuning of cooling systems to ensure energy efficiency and reliability.
  • Provide post-commissioning support to the operations team, including training on system operation and maintenance.
  • Undertake ongoing planned and corrective maintenance for cooling systems under Delta SLA agreements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field or related trade qualifications.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commissioning HVAC or cooling systems, preferably within a data center environment.
  • Proven experience in commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting complex HVAC systems (chillers, cooling towers, air distribution systems, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of data center cooling systems, including precision cooling, chilled water systems, and DX systems.
  • Familiarity with control systems, BMS (Building Management Systems), and monitoring tools used in HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and guidelines (ASHRAE, ISO, etc.).
  • Commissioning certifications such as ASHRAE CxA (Commissioning Process Management Professional) or
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and precision. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
