Our team has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer on the HLS AI Data Platform team, pioneering next-generation Data & AI workloads and Copilots. Our mission is to provide robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure and data platforms to support and elevate Microsoft’s cutting-edge technologies in the healthcare and life sciences domain. You will work across all aspects of high-performance, multi-tenante services.

Responsibilities
- Develops maintainable, extensible code using current programming languages and frameworks; writes unit tests and contributes to test automation.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to clarify requirements, integrates feedback from multiple sources, and iterates on designs and implementations.
- Contributes to design documents and architecture proposals with guidance; reuses code and follows established patterns and style guidelines.
- Tests and debugs features using logs, telemetry, and diagnostics; documents deployment procedures and supports safe rollouts.
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
- Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, GO, or Python,
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements
The ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, GO, or Python.
- Experience working with AI technologies from a technical standpoint (e.g., integrating AI services, using developer copilots).
- Knowledge of Kubernetes [RG1.1][DB1.2][RG1.3][NM1.4]application development and containerization.
- Experience developing on cloud platforms, including monitoring performance and telemetry to drive continuous improvements.

Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
