ROW Maintenance Person - Parks

Description
Under general supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled labor tasks to maintain public right-of-ways and properties; safely operates a variety of motorized handheld equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks; operates and drives various types of trucks and equipment; inspects and reports needed maintenance associated with daily equipment operations.
Illustrative Duties
- Operates a variety of motorized equipment, including dump trucks, pump trucks, rollers, street sweepers, and other motorized equipment.
- Maintains and repairs City streets and alleys through the use of applicable tools and techniques, including hot/cold potholes and street surface repairs.
- Maintains City right-of-way; clears weeds and brush; chips wood; prunes trees; picks up and removes tree limbs, leaves, and other debris.
- Performs tasks associated with the maintenance & repair of storm sewers, inlets, and catch basins.
- Operates snowplow, saltboxes, and other related snow removal equipment.
- Inspects vehicles & equipment and makes minor repairs and adjustments as needed; reports major problems and/or malfunctions to Fleet Maintenance.
- Performs moderate to heavy manual and skilled duties as necessary.
- On-call response is required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience as a general laborer and/or combination of training and experience which evidences the ability to perform unskilled and semi-skilled labor tasks; the ability to perform repetitive moderate to heavy manual labor; must posses a valid permit for a Kentucky Class A Commercial Driver's license and obtain a Class "A" CDL license within 6 months of hiring.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of safe unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor practices; general techniques and methods used in street and right-of-way maintenance. Possess skills and abilities for the proper and safe operation of all hand-held motorized equipment. Possess skills and abilities to safely operate and drive various heavy trucks, including dump trucks, pump trucks, roller, street sweepers, and various other motorized equipment owned and operated by the City.
