About the Role

Description

At Hi-Way Paving, we are general contractors in the construction field that specialize in significant amounts of concrete paving, storm drainage, and excavation on highways and airfields.


We are currently seeking a local CDL Driver/Laborer to join our team at our jobsite in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate will operate commercial trucks, assist with loading and unloading equipment and materials, and perform daily maintenance and inspections on equipment. In addition to driving responsibilities, the CDL Driver will support the operation with general labor tasks on the construction site. The driver is required to maintain a valid commercial driver's license.


Depending on project needs, this position requires flexibility to work both day and night shifts.


While based in Charlotte, NC, this role may require up to 100% travel to job sites in Nashville, TN, and future locations TBD.


What You'll Do:

  • Drive company vehicles including water truck, vac truck, dump truck, fuel truck, and more.
  • Distribute materials to appropriate job locations according to project plans or specifications.
  • Assist mechanics with the general maintenance of commercial vehicles.
  • Shovel and rake dirt, gravel, and concrete as needed.
  • Operate small equipment such as dozers, backhoes, and rollers when required.
  • Direct vehicle traffic and signal equipment operators as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with laborers, machine operators, and site management.
  • Follow safe work practices and adhere to all safety protocols and instructions.


What We Look For:

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Required
  • Class A or B CDL with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsement (Preferred)
  • Manual Transmission Experience (Required)
  • Heavy or Highway Construction Experience (Preferred)
  • Availability to work overnight (Required)
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain clearance for restricted/high-security zones (e.g., Airport AOA, Military Bases)
  • Physical Capabilities: Must be able to lift 50 lbs., climb, stand, sit, walk, enter confined spaces, push, pull, kneel, squat, and perform repetitive movements.
