About The Company
Robots have the potential to reshape our existence. Our mission is to leverage robotics to improve universal quality of life.  Robots will become one of the most impactful and effective tools humanity has ever created.  We believe robots should do the work humans don’t want to do. We pursue ambitious goals to make this a reality. We’re not satisfied making incremental improvements to the status quo but are driven to change the paradigm altogether.  Our robots are versatile, capable of solving numerous tasks with a single embodiment. Join us on the next phase of our journey as we get our systems out into the world to do the most meaningful work.
About the Role

Apptronik is a human-centered robotics company developing AI-powered robots to support humanity in every facet of life. Our flagship humanoid robot, Apollo, is built to collaborate thoughtfully with people, starting with critical industries such as manufacturing and logistics, with future applications in healthcare, the home, and beyond.

We operate at the cutting edge of embodied AI, applying our expertise across the full robotics stack to solve some of society's most important problems. You will join a team dedicated to bringing Apollo to market at scale, tackling the complex challenges like safety, commercialization, and mass production to change the world for the better.

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design and develop our Apollo humanoid robots across the full product lifecycle—from concept through production and sustaining.

In this role, you will apply strong engineering fundamentals and practical experience to solve well-defined and moderately ambiguous technical problems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in electrical, software, manufacturing, quality, and operations to deliver designs that meet performance, reliability, cost, safety, and manufacturability requirements.

Senior engineers are expected to own significant subsystems or features, execute with minimal supervision, and contribute meaningfully to technical discussions and design reviews. This role includes informal mentorship of junior engineers and participation in team technical standards, but does not require org-wide technical leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components, subsystems, and assemblies
  • Own designs from concept development and prototyping through production release and sustaining
  • Perform design trade studies and support technical risk reduction
  • Apply DFMA principles and support manufacturing readiness and production ramp
  • Plan and execute verification and validation testing for assigned designs
  • Perform or support mechanical analysis, including static, thermal, and fatigue analysis
  • Investigate test, manufacturing, and field issues; support root-cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Create clear and complete design documentation, drawings, and specifications
  • Participate in technical design reviews and cross-functional discussions
  • Collaborate with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and internal manufacturing teams
  • Support engineering change management (ECO/ECN) and design traceability
  • Provide guidance and informal mentorship to junior engineers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in a related mechanical engineering role
  • Proven ability to independently own and deliver mechanical subsystems or features
  • Strong experience with DFMA, manufacturing processes, and production support
  • Proficiency in mechanical analysis methods, including FEA and analytical calculations
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, verification, and validation testing
  • Solid understanding of materials selection, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Experience integrating mechanical designs with electronics, software, and motion systems
  • Familiarity with tooling, fixtures, automation, or test equipment design is a plus
  • Knowledge of regulatory, safety, and compliance considerations
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to team technical standards
