Job Description
We are seeking a technically minded and highly motivated Product Owner to join our product team, focusing on a portfolio of engineering-focused and simulation-oriented software solutions.
This Product Owner will work closely with the Product Director who oversees these products and will be responsible for translating product strategy into actionable development work. The role requires comfort working across both legacy and modernizing platforms, supporting bug prioritization and customer-impacting issues while helping shape the future of AI-driven, cloud-based engineering tools.
While experience in pumps, simulation, and engineering is desirable, this position is ideal for candidates who may not yet be experts yet, but who can quickly learn technical concepts, understand equations and data, and collaborate effectively with engineering teams and technical end users.
Responsibilities
Backlog Ownership and Prioritization:
- Maintain and refine the product backlog, including epics, features, and user stories, ensuring alignment with product strategy and customer needs.
- Ruthlessly prioritize backlog items to maximize value delivery while balancing competing priorities across multiple product lines.
Collaboration with Engineering Teams:
- Partner closely with development teams to ensure requirements are clear, technically feasible, and aligned to user needs.
- Actively participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups to ensure alignment and mitigate risks.
- Drive disciplined execution of roadmap deliverables and AI-driven product development initiatives.
Roadmap Execution and Alignment:
- Collaborate with the Product Director to translate strategic priorities into actionable engineering deliverables.
- Support modernization initiatives for next-generation platforms and enhancements to existing legacy solutions.
- Translate product goals into measurable release and sprint objectives and track progress against them.
Product Documentation and Release Notes:
- Create and maintain product documentation, including user guides, feature explanations, FAQs, and support materials.
- Draft and distribute release notes that clearly communicate new features, fixes, and changes to internal and external teams.
- Ensure documentation reflects accurate product behavior across all platforms.
Agile Development Leadership:
- Lead the agile process within assigned teams, ensuring clarity of acceptance criteria, sprint goals, and product expectations.
- Anticipate risks, blockers, and technical dependencies, and collaborate with engineering leadership to address them proactively.
- Drive continuous improvement within the team, advocating for quality, scalability, and user-centered decision-making.
Stakeholder and Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs to stakeholders across product management, engineering, services, support, and customer success.
- Partner with customer-facing teams to triage high-impact issues and incorporate feedback into the backlog.
- Provide product insights for internal training, customer discussions, and escalation management.
Customer-Centric Approach:
- Advocate for technical users throughout the development process, ensuring solutions align with real-world engineering workflows.
- Participate in customer calls and validation sessions to gather requirements and ensure product direction reflects user needs.
- Develop a strong understanding of engineering calculations, simulation logic, and related domain concepts—supported by internal training.
Qualifications
Required:
- Willingness to adopt AI driven software development and adapt as technology evolves.
- 2–5 years of experience in product ownership, product management, engineering, or a related technical role.
- Ability to quickly learn and understand technical domains, equations, and engineering-focused workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in an agile environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, computer science, business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AI development tools such as Replit, Cursor, etc.
