Property Accountant

Description

GCI is a premier Northeastern Ohio property management firm located in Beachwood. We are seeking an Accounting professional who will work with a team who is responsible for the accounting and reporting of a portfolio of multifamily apartment communities and support the assigned portfolio's residential operations. As a Property Accountant you will perform accounting tasks that support the residential management division.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintain the general ledger trial balance, review invoices, and ensure transactions are properly recorded in a timely manner for a portfolio of residential properties.
• Oversight of transactions recorded to accounts receivable and accounts payable for a portfolio of residential properties.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures and financial reporting, including applicable tax and audit requirements for a portfolio of residential properties.
• Determine, document, implement, and ensure ongoing compliance with all residential accounting procedures. 
• Collaborate with on-site property management teams to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.
• Assist in creating and updating annual operating budgets for a portfolio of residential properties.
• Utilize technology in a forward-thinking manner to drive business efficiencies and improved performance.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Yardi or other property management software

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience 

Experience:

• Required: 1-3 years accounting experience
• Preferred: Property accounting experience
