Music Director

Job Title: Ecumenical Music Director/Accompanist
Location: Malmstrom Air Force Base Chapel, Great Falls, MT
Faith Groups Supported: Catholic and Protestant
Hours: Up to 574 hours annually; includes Sunday services, rehearsals, special events, and funerals

Position Summary:

The Ecumenical Music Director/Accompanist will provide musical leadership and piano accompaniment for weekly Catholic and Protestant worship services, rehearsals, and special chapel events. The role requires collaboration with chapel staff and volunteers to enhance worship experiences and maintain a professional, respectful, and interfaith environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide piano accompaniment and musical direction for weekly Catholic and Protestant services

• Lead and direct two weekly rehearsals and prepare for up to 14 special services annually

• Support up to six funeral or memorial services per year

• Submit weekly music selections and monthly rehearsal schedules

• Arrange, improve, and score music consistent with both Catholic and Protestant worship traditions

• Coordinate music support needs with chaplains, including equipment and new music acquisitions

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience on a worship music team in a Catholic or Protestant setting

• Skilled in piano performance, sight-reading, and music arrangement

• Ability to work cooperatively in an interfaith environment and respect diverse religious beliefs

• Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
