Lead Engineer, Pressure Parts Engineering

As a Lead Engineer, you will take ownership of pressure parts engineering for recovery and power boiler projects as well as boiler rebuilds. You coordinate pressure parts engineering globally and hold responsibility for the sub‑project’s budget, schedule, and quality.
This position is located preferably at our Tampere office, but Raisio or another Valmet location in Finland, might also be possible.
What you’ll do
- Lead pressure parts engineering for recovery and power boilers, including basic and detail design phases.
- Provide input data for other disciplines and ensure compliance with technical standards.
- Work as a sub-project lead with responsibility for budget, schedule, resources, quality, and progress reporting.
- Proactively communicate and drive the project forward with engineering team members and other stakeholders.
- Resolve technical questions related to manufacturing and erection globally.
- Participate in product technology development initiatives.
Expectations for you
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc. or M.Sc.).
- 5+ years’ proven experience in machine and equipment design, experience with boiler pressure parts and structures is an advantage.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and E3D plant design software.
- Fluent in English and Finnish, both spoken and written
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel globally to manufacturing workshops and project sites (Europe, China, India).
To succeed in this role
You need strong expertise in mechanical engineering. Hands-on experience with design tools and standards is essential, along with the ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively across functions. Attention to detail combined with a big-picture mindset will help you succeed.
