Job Description
- FIFO - 8/6 days and nights shift
- Based in Tropicana, WA
- Permanent Full-time
- Salary: $85k - $95k
SGS Australia is looking for an experienced Fire Assayer to fill a FIFO role at our laboratory in Tropicana on an 8 days on / 6 days off day and nights roster.
As a Fire Assayer you will be responsible for all tasks required in the Fire Assay, including weighing, fluxing, firing, knocking up and cupellation of samples in the correct numerical order. These tasks to be carried out following established QC procedures and avoiding contamination.
Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for weighing, fluxing, firing, knocking up and cupellation of samples in correct numerical order
- These tasks to be carried out following established QC procedures and avoiding contamination
- Responsible for managing the recycling and disposal operations for pots, slag and cupels
- Responsible for good housekeeping of fire assay areas
- Responsible for performing basic maintenance (non-trades) of fire assay equipment
- Must use appropriate personal protective equipment in the correct manner and work to minimize creation of lead dust
- To ensure all relevant paperwork and electronic records are filled out correctly
- To perform other tasks as needed, including but not limited to, sample digestion and analysis of grade control samples, sample preparation, volent extractions and quality control of data
- Quality and quantity of samples produced
- Sample preparation to a high standard
- Ensure daily production targets are met
- Maintain a safety aware environment
Qualifications
As the successful candidate you will have:
- Neat and tidy work habits
- Strict adherence to personal hygiene rules for lead
- Previous experience in sample preparation
- Understanding and knowledge of LOI, moisture and fusing techniques
- Sound knowledge of Wet Chemistry environment
