Field Applications Engineer (FAE) – SMART Infrastructure, L3 Automotive & Robotaxi

The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) will be a key technical interface supporting Innoviz customers across SMART infrastructure, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), security, and selected L3 ADAS and robotaxi programs.

This role is heavily hands‑on and field‑oriented, with a strong focus on supporting early product deployment, customer onboarding, and real‑world testing of Innoviz LiDAR sensors.

You will work daily from the Munich office and collaborate closely with customer engineering teams across Europe, while maintaining tight alignment with Innoviz Sales, R&D and Application Engineering teams in Israel and Germany.

What you'll do

Primary Focus – SMART & Infrastructure Customers

• Lead all technical support and integration activities for customers in SMART infrastructure, traffic systems, ITS, public-safety, and security deployments.
• Provide continuous on‑site and remote customer support to ensure smooth installation, configuration, and first‑use activation of Innoviz sensors.
• Plan and execute field demo sessions, validation tests, and data‑collection activities tailored to SMART/ITS scenarios (intersection monitoring, road‑side units, perimeter protection, etc.)

Requirements

• BSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar discipline
• 5+ years engineering experience in hardware/software integration, field applications, or system-level testing
• Hands‑on problem‑solving skills and the ability to deliver fast, creative solutions in customer environments
• Daily presence in the Munich office is required — this is an on‑site, customer-facing role
• Willing to travel inside Germany and Europe - 20%
• Experience in SMART infrastructure, ITS, traffic technology, or security system deployments is a strong advantage
• Experience with autonomous vehicles, ADAS, robotics, or sensor integration (LiDAR experience preferred)
• Fluent in English; German language skills strongly preferred
• Engaging, customer-friendly personality and excellent communication skills
