Description
Customer Support Representatives are responsible for assisting excavators, utility companies, public safety departments, and the general public with underground facilities locate requests. This is accomplished by professionally answering calls, accurately locating the proper place in the County/Place mapping system and entering correct information into the 811 computer system. Customer Support Representatives play a key role in preventing underground utility damage and saving lives. The ability to adapt to change, learn quickly, and work a flexible schedule (including weekends and holidays) is essential for this role.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute with accuracy
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to read and interpret maps and understand geographic directions
- Ability to accurately enter and manage information in computerized systems
- Ability to navigate multiple applications simultaneously, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Google platforms
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures
- Ability to remain calm, empathetic, and professional in stressful situations
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a remote team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a high-volume call center or fast-paced customer service environment
- Familiarity with remote work expectations and virtual collaboration
