About the Role

The Clapper Lab is seeking a Scientific Technician I to assist in the conduct of preclinical experiments focused on the development of new agents for the early interception of cancer. This entry-level technician will support ongoing research by performing laboratory experiments, maintaining detailed records, and ensuring efficient daily operation in the lab. The position involves hands-on work with several novel strains of mice, the preparation and administration of experimental treatments, tissue processing, and general laboratory support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, reliable, and eager to learn new techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

· Maintain established mouse colonies and keep accurate electronic/hard-copy records.

· Conduct drug treatment studies, using various routes of drug administration.

· Perform animal-related procedures such as weighing, and tissue and blood collection.

· Process tissues for histopathological evaluation.

· Perform specialized techniques, including mouse endoscopy and intratracheal instillation, and support small animal imaging studies (IVIS, MRI).

· Contribute to general lab maintenance and safety, including stocking supplies, autoclaving, and filling liquid nitrogen tanks.

· Assist with additional laboratory methods such as cell culture, biochemical assays, RT-qPCR, and Western blotting.

Qualifications:

· Prior experience working with laboratory animals preferred, but training will be provided.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to follow established protocols and maintain accurate records.

· Willingness to handle animals, carcinogens, and viral vectors with proper safety training.

· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Bachelor's Degree Physical or Biological Sciences Required
