Position Summary

We have an opportunity to grow and develop your career through exposure to multiple aspects of project development of Federal/MEP projects. The Engineering Designer is a skilled position in the Federal/MEP group and may have the opportunity to support other discipline areas as needed. You will work on various assignments alongside Electrical Engineers and a Project Manager to complete drafting and design tasks. This position will also offer the opportunity to advance to Senior Engineering Designer.

In this role, the Designer will assist in:

  • preparation and support of design plans for projects of varying complexity, ranging from CAD and/or Revit drawing set-up to preparing arc flash/coordination studies. 
  • preparation of specifications for final review by the engineer.
  • Finalizing CAD sheets/XRefs/Title blocks for deliverables.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Design – under supervision of a Project Manager 

  • Preparation of engineering drawings utilizing the current versions of AutoCAD. 
  • Knowledge of MicroStation is a plus.
  • Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from electrical engineers to ensure that they conform to design concepts. 
  • Assist engineers with technical studies.
  • Contribute to timely completion of drawings and drawing update tasks daily; including CAD Production, CAD Operation and/or CAD QA/QC.
  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects 
  • Maintain up to date working and technical knowledge of all procedural and improvement changes to drafting computer hardware and software applications.
  • Perform fieldwork, documentation, research and drafting tasks of engineering data as requested by the engineer or project manager.
  • Manage client/sub-consultant CAD coordination issues.

Requirements

 

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma and specific training in CAD software 
  •      more experienced candidates are welcome to apply and that salary will be commensurate with experience.
  • Knowledge of computer software for office and operational functions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Experience utilizing AutoCAD software.
  • Knowledge of MicroStation software.
  • Experience in plotter configurations, page setups and plot styles.
