 POSITION SUMMARY

Join a well-respected practice in a vibrant town in southern VT.  This is a hospital-owned practice that is focused on providing full-spectrum, high-quality OB/GYN care to our community.

Physicians love working here—two have been with the practice for over 20 years!  It’s a unique community hospital that is still independently operating and thriving.  Physicians are trusted and listened to by an administration that seeks collaborative relationships with the medical staff.

The practice currently has four physicians, six midwives, and a nurse practitioner.  Our office culture is respectful and collaborative, with a caring staff of nurses, medical assistants, and secretaries.  There is very low staff turnover—some staff have been here over 20 years.

  • Independent hospital promotes collaborative culture and deeply values the physicians.
  • Flexible 3–4-day work week, seeing 12-14 patients a day.
  • Broad spectrum of OB/GYN consults, variety of office procedures, and a steady surgical volume.
  • Three dedicated OR days per month.
  • New operating rooms with focus on minimally invasive surgery
  • Manageable home call, as back up to midwives.
  • State constitution protects reproductive rights—practice evidence-based OBGYN carefree of legislative oversight.
  • Family-focused and vibrant community.
  • Competitive salary range based on experience and full medical benefits.
  • Student loan repayment possible through the state.

Generous vacation/holiday pay, CME allowances, and pension plan.

DEPARTMENT SCOPE OF SERVICE

Our patients come to us with a wide range of gynecologic needs.  We are the only OB/GYN practice in the area, so our physicians see all the consults from the surrounding primary care providers as well as from our own midwives who focus on routine OB and well-person care.  Physician office days largely consist of interesting consults and a variety of office procedures.   Physicians see 12-14 patients a day and work in the office 3-4 days per week.  Physicians also have 3 dedicated OR days per month on average. The hospital has three brand new operating rooms with advanced laparoscopic capabilities.

The hospital does 250-300 births a year. Birth center services include VBACs, water birth, 24-hour epidural service, and nitrous oxide for laboring patients.

Call is manageable, with physicians taking home call as back up to our midwives.   Midwives handle uncomplicated vaginal deliveries, routine labor management, and return patient calls after hours.  Call is shared between all the physicians, and any extra call taken is generously compensated.
