Drive With Purpose:
The Alexandria Area YMCA is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Bus Driver to provide transportation for YMCA programs. This position plays a critical role in ensuring children arrive safely while maintaining a positive, supportive atmosphere that reflects YMCA values.

What You'll Do:
As a YMCA Bus Driver, you will:
- Safely operate the bus in accordance with YMCA policies and state laws
- Complete detailed pre- and post-trip inspections
- Record mileage, gas levels, and maintenance information
- Maintain a clean and safe bus environment
- Ensure bus safety rules are clearly communicated and followed
- Keep first aid supplies stocked and accessible
- Respond appropriately in emergency situations
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff
- Communicate regularly with supervisors and team members
- Provide additional program support as assigned
This role is about more than transportation — it’s about creating a safe and welcoming experience from the moment children step onto the bus.
Requirements
- At least one year of bus driving experience preferred
- Valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) appropriate for passenger transport
- Knowledge of laws and regulations related to commercial passenger vehicles
- CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire
- Ability and desire to work with children
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Excellent safety awareness and sound judgment
Work Environment:
- Ability to safely drive for extended periods
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental hazards
