GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in supporting our company’s financial integrity by ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, analysis, and compliance. This position will be responsible for performing complex accounting tasks, including month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and financial reporting, while maintaining adherence to GAAP standards. The Staff Accountant serves as a key member of the finance team, contributing to high-level financial decisions and supporting continuous improvement within the accounting function. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis 
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements. 
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and recommend adjustments to support business objectives. 
  • Month-End Close Process 
  • Execute month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations. 
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. 
  • General Ledger Maintenance 
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring alignment with GAAP standards. 
  • Perform account analysis and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. 
  • Budgeting and Forecasting Support 
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of annual budgets and monthly forecasts. 
  • Provide support to management by supplying financial insights that drive strategic decision-making. 
  • Compliance & Audit Support 
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulations. 
  • Prepare and provide supporting documentation for audits, including account reconciliations and other financial reports. 
  • Process Improvement Initiatives 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations. 
  • Work with the finance team to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy. 

WORKING REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS

Education/Certification: 

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required. 

Required Knowledge: 

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and relevant accounting principles. 
  • Knowledge of financial reporting tools and ERP systems; experience with [specific ERP software] preferred. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills in data analysis and financial modeling. 

Experience Required:

Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations. 

Experience within a corporate finance environment, ideally in a multi-entity or multi-location organization.

  • Diligence: Thorough and meticulous, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliations.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders clearly. 
  • Time Management: Capable of prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a challenging environment. 
  • Team Collaboration: Works effectively within the finance team and cross-functionally to support company goals.
