ICU Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)

Description

Heartline Staffing, Strategic Talent Partners with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an ICU Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) for a permanent opportunity in Sanford, Florida.

The ICU Stepdown RN provides high-acuity nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring, frequent assessments, and advanced clinical interventions. This role supports patients transitioning from ICU-level care and requires strong clinical judgment, autonomy, and collaboration within an interdisciplinary care team.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health status and clinical condition.

• Provide high-acuity nursing care to stepdown-level patients, including those on drips and long-term ventilator support.

• Use clinical judgment to safely manage and prioritize patient care.

• Monitor critical vital signs and intervene appropriately in life-threatening situations.

• Advocate for patients as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

• Educate patients and families regarding medications, procedures, and treatment plans.

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

Hourly Pay Range (Based on Experience)

• $31.86/hour (minimum)

• $36.12/hour (approximately 5 years of experience)

• $40.44/hour (approximately 10 years of experience)

• $46.28/hour (17+ years of experience)

Shift Differentials

• Night shift: $4.50/hour

• Weekend shift: $1.50/hour

Sign-On Bonus

• $15,000 – Day Shift (through end of Q3; subject to reevaluation)

• $20,000 – Night Shift (through end of Q3; subject to reevaluation)

Additional Information

• Relocation assistance available on a case-by-case basis

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license for the position you are applying for.

• Florida RN license or valid multistate compact license required (Florida licensure required within 60 days if compact).

• Registered Nurse Diploma or Associate Degree required; BSN preferred.

• Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care ICU Stepdown RN experience required.

  – Candidates with 3 years of Cardiac PCU or Multisystem PCU experience will be considered.

• NIH Stroke Scale certification required within 30 days of employment start date.

• Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification required within 30 days of employment start date.

• American Heart Association ACLS Provider certification required within 6 months of employment start date.

• Strong critical care assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
