Position Overview
We are looking to hire a reliable, safety orientated, self-driven, and resourceful Facilities Technician who will be responsible for the overall maintenance and coordination with landlords for building improvements of our Houston properties. This includes ensuring that all building systems are operational, addressing safety concerns, performing regular inspections, and coordinating repairs. The Technician will also oversee any contracted work and maintain records of maintenance activities. This position will maintain relationships with other departments such as Safety, IT, and Shop managers and report directly to the Facilities Manager.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform daily routine maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry to ensure proper functioning.
- Address emergency maintenance issues promptly.
- Ensure the building’s compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
- Respond to safety complaints and service requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure common areas are clean and well-maintained.
- Responsible for maintaining inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Supervise and coordinate special projects with contractors.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets the building’s standards.
- Maintain a schedule of regular maintenance tasks and inspections.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Prepare reports on building operations and maintenance activities.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication.
Requirements
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in building systems or maintenance is a plus.
- Valid driver's license with good standing.
- Have a reliable form of transportation.
- 5 years of experience in Facility Maintenance.
- Background Check, Motor Vehicle Check, and Drug Screen required.
- Must possess a valid Texas state driver's license.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Capability to perform tasks that require climbing, bending, and working in confined spaces.
- Ability to be on-call for emergencies and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- The role may require working outdoors in various weather conditions and performing physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to handle highly sensitive information confidentially.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and work well in an environment with competing demands.
- Strong customer service skills, self-starter, highly motivated, and flexible as priorities change.
- Assist in setting up and arranging furniture, equipment, and materials for meetings, events, or workspace changes.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable.
- Support safety protocols by identifying and addressing potential hazards, ensuring clear emergency exits, and participating in safety drills.
- May occasionally be exposed to cleaning chemicals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Customer service experience
- Basic computer skills
- Bilingual Spanish / English
- Able to multitask
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
Work setting:
- In-person
- This role requires travel between company facilities throughout the day. A company-provided truck will be supplied for business use.
