About the Role

ABOUT US: Eleos (formerly PEMHS) is a private, non-profit behavioral healthcare organization located in Pinellas County, Florida. Programs include a 24-hour suicide hotline, emergency screening, and crisis intervention services, inpatient services for adults and children, and community-based programs. We are a designated receiving facility for Baker Act admissions, which includes individuals who are a threat or harm to themselves or others.

The Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) is designed to provide quality, comprehensive care for those in the community who are in need of stabilization in a structured, secure setting. Separate facilities which provide brief, intensive services for adults and children in crisis that include diagnoses, medication, and health education, as well as individual and group therapies, recreational activities, and discharge planning. The program is designed to assess the need for current treatment and symptom alleviation. The program is not intended to provide an alternative placement when criteria for admission and/or evaluation is no longer being met. The goal of the program is to return the individual to their home or to the least restrictive setting availability.

JOB FUNCTION: Oversees the nursing staff and overall operations of three mental health crisis stabilization units (CSUs) serving both juvenile and adult clients.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Supervising all nursing staff.
  • Maintaining high standards of care for all clients in compliance with applicable laws (e.g. Baker Act).
  • Recruiting, training and onboarding new nursing staff.
  • Implementing and enforcing new and existing policies and procedures.
  • Directing the agency-wide infection control program.
  • Managing patients’ data and medical records as confidential records.
  • Communicating with doctors, patients and family members about client health.
  • Recording, monitoring, and reporting relevant statistics related to the provision of services and clients served.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Registered Nurse licensure by the State of Florida. Five (5) years supervisory or administrative experience and two (2) years experience as a psychiatric nurse.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to bend, lift a minimum of 50 lbs., stretch, lower and raise self from floor independently. Ability to hear and see in emergency situations. Must be able to pass NAPPI (Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention) training and perform NAPPI techniques.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to all program conditions which may include physical intervention and verbal abuse by consumers. Possible irregular and on-call working hours. Must be available to work during emergency situations (including weather events).
