About the Role

Job Description

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

As Public Affairs Manager Vietnam, you will lead the public affairs agenda by developing and executing strategies that align with H&M Group’s business goals and global public affairs approach. You will represent the company in government relations and external platforms, translating global priorities into locally relevant actions. 

  • You will foster meaningful relationships between our organization and external stakeholders in relation to the H&M Group’s business agenda and sustainability ambition, with the purpose of illustrating the need for legislation changes or supporting policy to support our business goals. 

  • You will be responsible for setting the local Public Affairs strategy, which includes: 

  • Monitor developments in Government positions, legislations and policies to assess risks and opportunities and develop company responses through appropriate internal stakeholders' engagement 

  • Identify goal and desired outcome in Government relations that support business goals at the local level both for the supply chain and retail operations 
  • Engage with external stakeholders, with specific reference to Government authorities and international organisations on ground to advance policy reforms that are in line with business and industry needs 

  • Proactively advocate for regulatory changes in areas where there are existing company policies, with specific focus on business, trade and sustainability areas 

  • Assess and plan influencing opportunities  

  • Be a spokesperson for H&M Group 

  • Your key focus will be to improve the legal frameworks for enabling our business goals, by engaging and involving external stakeholders and Government bodies, also strengthening the perception of our work.  Aligned with business and sustainability strategies and goals, you are responsible for driving local engagements within all the relevant stakeholders. This includes the implementation of processes and procedures to mitigate potential risks that may hinder business and sustainability strategies and goals. 

  • You need to provide regular updates to internal stakeholders, with local opportunities and challenges regarding policies and industry developments. 

  • You maintain direct partnership and effective cooperation with Country Manager in your region, both Retail and Production 

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH 

You’ll work closely with Retail, Production and global central functions, engaging with cross-functional teams across multiple geographies, and representing H&M Group externally with key stakeholders. 

 

 

Qualifications

WHO YOU ARE 

The person we are looking for must have extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, public affairs, corporate affairs, policy influencing/advocacy, program management and sustainability. Communication skills will also be a key element when deciding who we will hire for the role as you will need to build relationships globally across the Production and central functions as well as with the media. To be successful in this role, you need to have strong analytical skills for understanding trends and being able to understand and translate the economics at the basis of the industry into public affairs messages and policy papers. Most importantly though, we are looking for someone who is passionate about contributing to the team and with a strong drive to deliver impact! 

We are looking for people with…

  • University Degree in Political Science, Law, Business Administration, Communications or equivalent. 

  • 7-10 years of working experience with industry/ private sector/ business stakeholders. Either within a multinational or in the development sector. 

  • Expertise in labor & environment standards (Local & International) is preferred and should be strong at Stakeholder Engagement & Public Affairs 

  • Experience in dealing with senior levels of Government to resolve issues and influence change. A good understanding of the government structure at province and central level including relevant ministries and departments is necessary. 

  • Experience of working in a matrix organization with a range of internal stakeholders in numerous offices and countries. Experience with consumer goods or retail businesses will be preferred. 

  • Capable of representing the company in bigger forums to drive positive change towards the industry by actively engaging with internal & external stakeholders. 

  • Proficiency in the English and Vietnamese language is a must. 

  • Strong leadership experience in leading teams as well as influencing internal & external stakeholders.
