About the Role

Position: Civil Engineer

Reports to: Department Manager – Civil


General Qualities:

- Strong verbal and written skills are required. Is a proactive self-starter. 

- Provides technical support. 

- Work well with others in a group setting.

- Can accomplish assigned tasks independently with guidance from their supervisor. 

- Capable of developing solutions to problems. 

- Excellent writing skills.


Responsibilities:

- Site/civil design include grading, roadway, storm water management, green infrastructure, water and sewer mains, signing, and erosion and sediment control design.

- Preparation of associated calculations, reports, and spreadsheets.

- Working on, and leading design teams in all aspects of a given project to develop detailed design documents for construction plans.

- Plan preparation using AutoCAD.

- Experienced with civil/site and highway design

- Field work including investigations, data collection, sign and roadway infrastructure inventory collection, and observation of soil borings.

- Familiar with all company policies and procedures and verifies implementation and compliance. 

Requirements

Educational/Professional Requirements:

- BS in Civil Engineering 

- Professional Engineer’s license in NY or NJ with the ability to obtain a license in both States 

- 5 years of experience in civil/site and highway engineering design. 

- Proficiency in engineering and drafting software required to complete assigned projects.

- Familiarity with agencies standards and protocols including: NJDOT, NYSDOT, NYCDDC, NYCDOT, PANYNJ, and NJTA is a plus.

- Active participation in professional societies, industry organizations, and local civic organizations.

- Encourages professional training and licensing (self).
