About the Role

Description

The Pricing Estimator plays a key role in preparing accurate, competitive job estimates that reflect our production capabilities and optimize profit margins. This position requires significant independent judgment and technical expertise developed through years of hands-on experience in estimating, preferably within the folding carton, print, or packaging industries.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Preparing accurate production cost estimates, turning detailed customer specifications and input from sales, CAD, and leadership into competitive, profitable job quotes.
  • Performing thorough and timely computations to price both standard and custom jobs, partnering with senior leadership for complex or non-standard projects.
  • Lead detailed price analysis to assess material, labor, and overhead costs, ensuring estimates reflect current market trends and drive maximum profitability.
  • Managing customer and sales inquiries with professionalism, providing clear and prompt information to support decision-making.
  • Organizing your workflow efficiently, prioritizing tasks, and managing estimates to meet customer deadlines and internal goals.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality and security of all sensitive estimate data, while ensuring estimates are easily retrievable when needed.
  • Staying current on up-to-date material costs and labor rates, adjusting estimates proactively as conditions change.
  • Utilizing ERP and estimating software to streamline your estimating processes.
  • Actively participating in production and customer service meetings to stay aligned with operational goals and customer needs.



Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of estimating in a manufacturing environment. (Experience with multi-color printed folding carton orders, including materials, processes, and production workflows is preferred)
  • Proven experience organizing and managing customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs) with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Advanced proficiency with estimating software, CAD systems, and extensive computer use in a production environment.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, capable of performing precise calculations, analyzing complex data, and applying quantitative reasoning to develop competitive and profitable estimates.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements and translate them effectively into production-ready estimates.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask efficiently under pressure, demonstrate urgency, and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with general supervision from senior leadership.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, able to collaborate and communicate clearly with customers, sales teams, and customer service representatives.
  • Skilled at gathering necessary information and approvals to support estimating activities.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Consistently adheres to company procedures, policies, and quality standards.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience, preferably within the folding carton or packaging industry.
  • High school diploma required; a Bachelor’s degree in Design, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Background in sales or customer service combined with practical knowledge of folding carton manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
