About the Role

Description

 The Global Berry QA & Food Safety Director is responsible for leading all aspects of Quality Assurance (QA) and Food Safety (FS) across Family Tree Farms’ global berry operations. This role provides strategic direction, structure, and oversight to ensure consistent quality standards, food safety compliance, and effective communication from farm to customer across all markets. 

Requirements

 

  • Develop and maintain quality specifications across multiple growing regions for various berry commodities, labels, and end markets.
  • Create and implement a global QA & Food Safety structure to support berry operations worldwide.
  • Build, lead, and support QA & FS teams across regions to ensure consistent execution of standards.
  • Establish systems and processes to ensure effective flow of information from farm to customer, including quality reporting, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate clear and proactive communication with growers, packing operations, and the Sales & Marketing team to align quality expectations with market requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable food safety regulations, audit standards, and customer requirements across all berry programs.
  • Drive a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout global berry operations.
  • Lead and oversee all internal and third-party food safety and quality audits across global berry operations.
  • Develop and maintain recall, traceability, and crisis management programs for berry operations.
  • Establish and manage grower, packer, and supplier approval programs, including audits and performance monitoring.

  • 8+ years in fresh produce QA/FS (berries preferred)
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong Business acumen, organizational and administrative skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, especially within a highly innovative environment.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking skills, and proactive thought leadership.
  • Deep knowledge in berry quality assurance and food safety.
  • Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and international operations.
  • International supply chain experience
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support global berry operations.
