Planner/Expeditor (Clipper Windpower)

Job Purpose
The Planner/Expeditor is responsible for ensuring production workflows run efficiently by coordinating materials, production orders, and logistics activities. This role requires close collaboration with production, inventory control, purchasing, logistics, and warehouse teams to ensure materials and components are available when needed to support both production and customer demand. The Planner/Expeditor will also support inbound and outbound shipment coordination to maintain timely and accurate product flow. This role is based in Cedar Rapids, IA at the Clipper Windpower manufacturing facility, a company owned by Longroad Energy.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Order Management
- Create, release, and maintain production orders according to production schedules and demand requirements.
- Monitor production order progress daily, identify delays or bottlenecks, and work cross-functionally to resolve issues.
- Generate and maintain accurate stores pick lists for all work orders and production needs.
- Partner with warehouse team to track material issuance and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure production orders are accurately completed and closed upon fulfillment.
Inventory Monitoring & Material Coordination
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate availability of raw materials, components, and finished goods to support uninterrupted production.
- Identify potential shortages and collaborate with Inventory Control and Purchasing to initiate replenishment actions.
- Support cycle counting, reconciliation activities, and inventory accuracy initiatives as needed.
Logistics Shipment Coordination
- Assist in scheduling inbound deliveries of materials, ensuring alignment with production timelines and storage capacity.
- Coordinate outbound shipments for finished goods, prototypes, repairs, or service orders.
- Work with logistics partners, warehouse teams, and carriers to secure on-time shipments.
- Communicate shipment schedules, delays, or changes to internal stakeholders to minimize disruption.
Systems Accuracy & Process Improvement
- Maintain accurate and timely planning, production, and inventory data within ERP/SAP or other systems.
- Audit production orders, pick lists, and inventory transactions for completeness and accuracy.
- Escalate critical shortages, supplier issues, or system discrepancies as appropriate.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing planning efficiency, material flow, and operational performance.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in planning, expediting, production control, or supply chain coordination.
- Strong understanding of material flow, inventory management, and production processes.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office tools.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage time-sensitive priorities.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with logistics processes, freight coordination, and warehouse operations.

Working Conditions
- Manufacturing / Warehouse Environment: Work is performed in an active warehouse setting that involves moving equipment, stored materials, and operational machinery.
- Moderate Noise Levels: Exposure to noise from forklifts, power tools, overhead cranes, business equipment, and general warehouse traffic. Hearing protection may be required in certain areas.
- Computer and Office-Based Work: This position involves extensive use of computers and office systems, including prolonged periods of sitting, data entry, system navigation, and screen time. Occasional standing or walking within the warehouse or production areas may be required to support coordination activities. Minimal physical handling of materials is expected and lifting requirements up to 50 pounds are limited and infrequent.
- Temperature Variability: Work areas may fluctuate in temperature depending on season and proximity to docks or production operations.
- Safety Focused Environment: Requires adherence to safety procedures, PPE requirements, and hazard prevention practices.
Work Schedule
- Typical shift is 7:00am to 3:30pm with a meal break. Overtime or schedule adjustments may be required based on operational needs.
