The Vice President of Human Resources serves as a senior strategic leader responsible for shaping and executing the organization’s people strategy in alignment with business growth and long-term objectives. This role partners closely with Senior leadership to build scalable people programs, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and ensure Southern Orthodontic Partners continues to attract, develop, and retain top talent across its growing network of partner practices.
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the VP of HR will lead enterprise-level initiatives focused on workforce planning, leadership development, organizational design, compensation design, and culture building. This individual will play a key role in scaling HR infrastructure and processes to support rapid growth, including integration of new partner practices and evolving organizational needs. As a member of the HR leadership team, the VP will help drive a high-performance culture that supports innovation, accountability, and an exceptional team member experience.
Essential Job Functions*:
- Partners with the Chief People Officer and executive leadership team to define and execute a forward-looking people strategy that supports organizational growth and scalability.
- Leads the design and implementation of enterprise HR programs, frameworks, and processes that support a multi-location healthcare organization
- Provides strategic counsel to senior leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, leadership capability, and change management.
- Drives initiatives that strengthen company culture, team member engagement, and leadership effectiveness across the organization
- Oversees and develops HR leaders and teams responsible for supporting regional operations and practice-level teams – to include payroll, Team Member Relations and HR Services
- Utilizes workforce analytics and business insights to inform strategic decisions and identify opportunities to improve organizational performance
- Partners with executive leadership on integration strategies for newly acquired practices, ensuring alignment of culture, processes, and team member experience
- Ensures HR programs, policies, and systems evolve to support a growing, multi-state organization while maintaining compliance and operational excellence
- Leads cross-functional initiatives that enhance the overall team member lifecycle, including onboarding, development, engagement, and retention strategies
- Champions innovation and continuous improvement across HR functions to support operational scale and efficiency
- Represents the HR function as a key voice in strategic planning and business transformation initiatives
Requirements
Essential Job Skills:
- Proven executive-level HR leadership experience in a start up or multi-site organization
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align people strategies to organizational priorities and outcomes
- Demonstrated success building and scaling HR programs, systems, and teams
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable initiatives
- Executive presence and ability to influence senior leaders and stakeholders across the organization
- Deep understanding of human resources strategy, compensation structure, organizational effectiveness, and talent management best practices
- Effective written, verbal, and electronic communication that is professional in both content and delivery
- Ability to gain trust and credibility with doctors, leaders, and cross-functional partners
- Strong analytical mindset with experience leveraging HR metrics and insights to guide decision-making
- Knowledge of federal and multi-state employment regulations Strong leadership and team development capabilities
- Willingness to assist team with tactical initiatives when needed.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving organization
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources or related field
- 10+ years human resources experience, 5+ years at a senior leadership level
- Experience developing and executing HR strategy in a high-growth or multi-location organization·
- Experience leading and developing HR teams
- Experience with HRIS systems and people analytics
- Ability to travel up to 50%
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Requirements:
- SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification
- MBA or Masters Degree in HR, Org Development or related field
- Experience in healthcare, dental, or multi-site service organizations
- Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions and organizational integration initiatives
