The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides compassionate, hands-on care to patients under the direction and supervision of a Unity Registered Nurse (RN). All care is based on the RN’s comprehensive patient assessment and is delivered according to the patient’s individualized Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Plan of Care, ensuring comfort, dignity, and safety. 


**This role covers Sturgeon Bay Territory but may travel outside the territory at times.**


Schedule: Full-time (36 hours per week), consisting of four 9-hour shifts from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Weekend commitment is a minimum of every third weekend (currently averaging every eighth weekend). Includes participation in an on-call rotation approximately every eight weeks, with some flexibility as coverage needs change. Position also requires coverage of 1–2 holidays per year. 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Highly motivated and organized with a strong attention to detail and analytical skills to help solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment. 
  • Ability to keep up to date with policies, practices, and regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and capable of dealing with deadline pressures.
  • Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations as well as policies and procedures of Unity.
  • Satisfy mandatory training requirements regarding local, state, and federal regulations and/or Unity’s policies and procedures.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned. 
  • Ability to adjust to frequently changing demands.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Unity CNA staff can perform services/support in the following areas as directed by the RN:

  3. Restorative Care
  4. Skin Care
  5. Mobility
  6. Nutritional Support
  7. Respiratory 
  8. Bowel and Bladder
  9. Reinforce Teaching
  10. Companionship and Support
  11. Vital Signs
  12. Reading of CADD pump settings
  13. Report on pain rating
  14. Maintain required competencies and skills
  15. Report any changes in the patient’s condition or family situation immediately to the appropriate member(s) of the interdisciplinary team
  16. Promote and maintain confidentiality
  17. Shares in providing 24-hour, seven day-a-week coverage

Requirements

  • Completion of certified nursing assistant program
  • Must be listed on the Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Registry and be eligible to work at state and federally certified facilities
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle
