Description

Holley-Navarre Water System is an 18,000 strong member owned not-for-profit water and wastewater company in Santa Rosa County. HNWS wholly owns two subsidiaries, an engineering firm, and a golf course.


Job Overview:

Executes all aspects of field service, meter operations, & line flushing.

Requirements

Essential Job Functions:

  • Executes all aspects of field service from start to finish
  • Executes service order process
  • Assists with customer service issues
  • Locates, installs, cleans, repairs, and maintains meters, boxes, and other devices as necessary
  • Checks to ensure meters are visible, correctly installed, functioning properly, accurate
  • Reads utility meters, performs special readings, and investigates customer complaints
  • Writes/electronically generates service orders for meters
  • Initiates and terminates water service as directed
  • Reports tampered and damaged meters to billing
  • Checks accuracy of meters and reports any defects
  • Determines consistency of meter readings in the field, checks leaks, and reports any problems
  • Removes and resets water meters when service has been discontinued or renewed
  • Performs turn-offs, turn-ons and turn off customers for delinquent accounts
  • Performs minor field and shop maintenance repairs on meters
  • Maintains and performs minor repairs on meters, backflow preventers, meter testing equipment and service lines.
  • Replaces meters as needed and makes taps to install meters
  • Creates reports to monitor high reads
  • Notifies customers of important events such as leaks, boil water notices, line breaks, etc.
  • Works in conjunction with Backflow Compliance Department in assisting flushing lines quarterly
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

High school diploma or GED

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current Florida Driver’s License.
  • Required to get backflow certification and Level III Water Distribution License within 24 months of employment

Computer Skills:

Basic Microsoft Office, with the ability to become familiar with company specific programs and software.


Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, to walk, read, hear, talk, balance, climb, use hands, use fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, smell, taste, push or pull. The employee may be required to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, or sharp objects. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
