The Day Community Opportunities Program (DCOP) is seeking a dedicated Assistant Director for our North Region—a dynamic leader who is passionate about supporting people with developmental disabilities and strengthening community-based day habilitation services.

In this key role, you will oversee DCOP Habilitation Services across six counties: Albany,  Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren, Washington and steer our growth into three counties: Montgomery, Fulton, and Schoharie, with occasional coverage for Southern counties as needed. You will guide and support managers, ensure exceptional service delivery, and help shape the systems that drive participant success.

What You’ll Do

Leadership & Program Support

  • Supervise and mentor Day Habilitation Managers and Assistant Managers
  • Ensure programs reflect agency values, regulations, and best practices
  • Monitor program quality through site visits, documentation checks, and data review
  • Support clinical problem-solving and participant goal progress
  • Manage distribution of participant information and updates
  • Oversee database accuracy (Choices, NETSMART) and help maintain program records
  • Participate in cross-county meetings and agency communications

Training & Development

  • Train managers on documentation standards and program procedures
  • Co-facilitate training with the Program Director and Deputy Director
  • Provide DCOP orientation for direct support staff
  • Maintain training records and ensure readiness for incident response

Documentation & Compliance

  • Conduct audits of participant notes and correct billing errors
  • Monitor attendance and ensure staff access to complete, current information
  • Review incident reports and support Quality Assurance recommendations

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with Case Coordinators, families, and other care providers
  • Assist leadership in resolving concerns and advocating for participants
  • Communicate sensitive issues appropriately to agency leadership

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) and at least one year of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field (psychology, social work, nursing, applied behavioral science, etc.)
  • CPR, First Aid, and SCIP certification (or willingness to complete upon hire)
  • Strong written communication, typing accuracy, and interpersonal skills

Preferred

  • Two years of supervisory experience or two years as a Day Habilitation Coordinator

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as assisting with transfers, mobility devices, toileting, and repositioning
  • Ability to carry a 10-lb backpack for extended periods
