Who are we? 


The National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) is the international testing agency for the chiropractic profession. The NBCE develops, administers, and scores standardized exams that assess knowledge, higher-level cognitive abilities, and problem-solving in various basic science and clinical science subjects.


What do we do?


NBCE exams offer assurance to the general public that a chiropractor, regardless of what school they attended or where they were licensed, has demonstrated a baseline of knowledge as well as ability in diagnosis, diagnostic imaging, principles of chiropractic, associated clinical sciences, and chiropractic practice. Candidates typically take NBCE exams before graduating from chiropractic college. Exam scores are made available to licensing authorities within and outside the United States. In the U.S., all 50 states either accept or require candidates to pass Parts I, II, III, and IV for licensure.


ROLE SUMMARY:


Assist the Manager of Computer-Based Testing (CBT) in the preparation and review of items for the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) examinations and other projects, as needed.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


A. Write, edit, and review test items for all parts of NBCE exams, as needed.

B. Review test forms and replace items, as needed, according to the prescribed test plan, difficulty map, and all necessary test parameters.

C. Participate in post-exam review preparation and meetings.

D. Review examinee comments and take appropriate action during the post-exam review process.

E. Assist with the preparation and serve as moderator at test committee meetings.

F. Lead the test committee item review process by ensuring all necessary items are evaluated.

G. Participate in subject specific roundtable meetings to review items.

H. Assist with occasional interdepartmental work requests.


OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


A. Answer phone and/or email inquiries and consult with examinees, as requested.

B. Assist in the preparation, review, and analysis of periodic Practice Analysis Surveys.

C. Assist in the development and review of NBCE Delphi Studies.

Requirements

  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Doctor of Chiropractic with five years in chiropractic practice or equivalent experience at a chiropractic college
  • Current license in good standing, in-depth knowledge of adjunctive procedures taught in chiropractic colleges (e.g., physiotherapy), and proficient in clinical skills (e.g., physical examination, diagnosis, and chiropractic adjusting)
  • Computer competency using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other needed applications within Microsoft Office 
  • High level of knowledge in the basic and clinical sciences
  • Ability to write superior quality test questions according to NBCE specifications that incorporate basic and clinical sciences
  • Ability to work effectively on several projects and with different teams concurrently
  • Excellent writing, communication, and research skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail when editing items, technical reports, or papers
  • Demonstrated professional and ethical standards
  • A valid Colorado driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle record
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. for any employer

COMPENSATION


Hiring Range: $50.63 - $63.28 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
