Hunter Communications is searching for a skilled Directional Drill Operator to join our growing team. This is an amazing opportunity to join a well-established, rapidly growing company that fosters career opportunities.



Specific duties include but not limited to:

  • Locate for Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.
  • Ensure safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities.
  • Operate Horizontal Directional Drill
  • Assist in potholing and remediation
  • Assist with setting hand holes and completing tie-ins
  • Ability to Read and Comprehend utility locates.
  • Perform heavy manual labor, able to lift 70 lbs. on occasion
  • Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks and grounding the machine.
  • Ability to properly formulate and mix drilling mud for the site conditions.
  • Ability to perform proper reaming and pull back methods for existing conditions.
  • Ability to properly clean and maintain the equipment, check fluid levels, and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required reports, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment.
  • Communicates with Supervisor daily to turn in required reports (i.e. Bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, crew time logs etc.)
  • Follows specifications for the job and company policies.
  • Complies with safety procedures on and off the project site.
  • Strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid Class A driver’s license – other candidates may be considered (especially CDL permit holders or Class B holders). This position is subject to the U.S. D.O.T. and Federal Highway Administration regulations relating to controlled substance and alcohol use and testing)
  • Demonstrated experience in utility construction.
  • Read and interpret underground construction plans and written instructions.
  • Ability to think ahead and use independent judgment.
  • Must live or be willing to relocate to within 35 minutes of the office.
  • Clean driving record.
