TITLE: Manager, STEAM Program
REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Girl Experience
Classification/FLSA Status: Full-time Exempt
LOCATION: Region – NWA / MDW (Preferred)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager, STEAM Program leads the strategic development, delivery, and growth of innovative STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programming for girls in grades K–12. This role ensures high-quality, mission-aligned experiences rooted in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) and national badge curriculum while advancing community engagement, partnership development, and earned revenue opportunities. The STEAM Center Manager supervises staff and volunteers, cultivates strategic partnerships, maintains program resources and equipment, and drives continuous improvement to expand access and impact. They will serve as a member, thought partner, and contributor to the organization’s Girl Experience Team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Leadership & Innovation
· Design, develop, and manage high-quality, innovative STEAM programming aligned with GSLE pillars and national badge requirements.
· Plan and oversee STEAM events, workshops, encampments, day camps, and council-led programming.
· Ensure program experiences build confidence, courage, and character while fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
· Integrate current trends and best practices in youth development, leadership, and STEAM education into program design.
Staff & Volunteer Management
· Supervise and support STEAM program staff, including full-time, part-time, seasonal staff, interns, and volunteers.
· Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management of STEAM personnel.
· Plan and deliver volunteer training specific to STEAM programming to ensure safety, quality, and mission alignment.
Strategic Partnerships & Community Engagement
· Cultivate and sustain strategic partnerships with schools, colleges, businesses, and subject matter experts to enhance program offerings.
· Identify and collaborate with community experts to expand program depth and innovation.
· Work closely with recruitment staff to create opportunities for non–Girl Scouts to participate in STEAM programming, supporting membership growth.
· Partner with the communications team to market and promote STEAM opportunities to Girl Scouts and the broader community.
Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
· Implement evaluation tools and feedback mechanisms to assess program quality, participation, and outcomes.
· Analyze data to inform program enhancements, increase participation, and strengthen impact.
· Maintain documentation of program metrics, participation trends, and community engagement outcomes.
Operations & Resource Management
· Oversee the maintenance, inventory, and safe use of STEAM equipment and supplies.
· Ensure compliance with safety standards and risk management protocols.
· Manage program budgets and contribute to financial sustainability through cost control and revenue-generating program opportunities.
Professional Development & Subject Matter Expertise
· Pursue ongoing professional development in youth program management, leadership, STEAM education, and positive youth development.
· Remain current in Girl Scouts of the USA national program portfolio updates and best practices in girl-centered programming.
· Serve as the council’s subject matter expert in STEAM education and innovation.
Financial & Resource Management
· Develop, manage, and monitor departmental budgets.
· Ensure responsible stewardship of financial and human resources to achieve strategic objectives.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Access
· Actively participate in and champion environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and leadership behaviors.
· Integrate equitable practices into recruitment strategies and community engagement initiatives.
Other Duties
· Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support council operations and strategic priorities.

· Seasonal Camp Burnham Woods staff, including activity specialists

Education and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in education, STEM-related field, Youth Development, or related discipline preferred.
· 3–5 years of experience in youth program management, STEAM education, or nonprofit program leadership.
· Demonstrated experience in supervising staff and volunteers.
· Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
· Ability to build and sustain strategic community partnerships.
· Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and positive youth development principles.
· Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Girl Scout program, principles, and standards.

Required Skills/Abilities:
1. Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
2. Willingness to work on a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
3. Travel throughout council jurisdiction up to 20% of the time.
4. Capability to provide your own transportation and maintain a valid operator's license.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to withstand:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Operate office equipment manually.
· Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds at times.

Requirements
