Atlas Factoring is Looking for a Strong Controller for our Finance Department

Atlas Factoring is seeking a strong, detail-oriented, motivated Controller for our El Paso office. The Controller's responsibilities include managing the accounting department's daily operations, maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budgeting and closing processes, conducting internal audits, and maintaining journal entries and accounting documentation. You will also assist the Director of Operations as needed and respond to information requests from management and for auditing purposes.
Essential Job Duties include but are not limited to:
- Design, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and minimize operational losses and write-offs.
- Establish and oversee internal audit procedures across all factoring accounts, client portfolios, and financial transactions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Lead the development and implementation of departmental Profit & Loss (P&L) reporting to provide clear visibility into performance, profitability, and operational efficiency by department.
- Identify and define cost centers across the organization and implement cost allocation methodologies to improve financial transparency and accountability.
- Analyze operating expenses and financial performance to identify cost-reduction opportunities, operational efficiencies, and sustainable savings initiatives.
- Monitor financial trends, portfolio performance, write-off patterns, and revenue drivers, and provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting, reconciliation, and compliance with internal policies, lending agreements, and regulatory requirements specific to factoring operations.
- Partner with operations, credit, and executive leadership to strengthen financial discipline, improve profitability, and support strategic growth initiatives.
- Manage accounts payable, underwriting, collections, and credit staff members. Including hiring, training, and completing performance reviews.
- Manage monthly closing processes, including journal entries, analysis, and reconciliations.
- Develop annual operating budgets and performance projections.
- Financials for Atlas Factoring LLC must be ready and finalized by the 10th of every month, in compliance with GAAP.
- Maintain documentation for accounts payable, purchasing, billing, and treasury, and conduct internal audits.
- Daily bank treasury reconciliations. Verify and post details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and total accounts. (Daily reconciliation and entering QuickBooks invoices, etc.)
- Manage line of credit balance, including daily funding requests, paying down line with excess cash, complete weekly and monthly borrowing base reporting, and audits and other requests.
- Manage the credit assigned to the client and debtors.
- Complete, resolve variances, and send the Daily Cash Reconciliation Model to the Executive Team.
- Prepare weekly and monthly compliance reports required by the line of credit.
- Reconciling records and receipts for all fuel transactions processed to ensure accuracy.
- Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts.
- Generating and analyzing management accounts and financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis in a timely manner.
- Reviews investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, client balances, documents, and reports.
- Final review of daily funding to ensure payment accuracy.
- Manage the loan processing and payments.
- Manage returned, rejected ACH, and Checks
- Being a key point of contact for other departments on accounting and credit matters
- Review the factoring system to identify balances that need review and clearance.
- Develop, document, and train policies and procedures for all managed functions.
- Manage annual financial audit and assist with Tax requests.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- At least 4 years of relevant experience in accounting.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Office, Word Processing, Spreadsheet, and Database programs
