Human Resource Generalist 

Summary


Salary commensurate with experience.


Job purpose

The Human Resources Generalist focus will be on Workers Comp, Leave of Absences, writing of Corrective actions, Unemployment claims, tracking various safety and compliance programs, conducting exit interviews and working to foster an ongoing positive working relationship with the sales and service leadership teams. 


Duties and responsibilities

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the HR Director.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, and ongoing annual assessments.
  • Coordinates and facilitates onboarding for new hires, including paperwork, system setup, and ensuring completion of required      documentation.
  • Maintains new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

 Competencies

  • Experience with Paylocity or other HRIS/payroll platforms a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to know when to ask for help.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Excel.
  • The ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • At least two years of human resource experience required.
  • SHRM Certification a plus.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the various dealerships.
  • Must be available for occasional overnight stays for site visits to our out-of-town dealerships. 

Supervisory Responsibility –Exempt status 

This position has no regular supervisory responsibilities

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening, Holiday and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

This position may require up to 25% travel
