WHAT YOU'LL DO
We are seeking an experienced Boat Locker Operations Support Specialist to provide maintenance, operational, and training support across multiple boat locker locations. This position supports the readiness and operational capability of amphibious reconnaissance craft and associated equipment. The primary duty location is Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, with periodic travel to boat locker sites in Hawaii, California, Georgia, and Alabama. The successful candidate will work closely with amphibious reconnaissance personnel, boat chiefs, and maintenance teams to ensure the operational readiness of small craft, engines, and associated equipment used in reconnaissance missions.
This position is contingent upon contract award. Employment will commence only if the contract is awarded.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
- Support maintenance and operational readiness of approximately 96 watercraft and associated systems, including:
- Combat Rubber Reconnaissance Craft (CRRC)
- Enhanced CRRC (E-CRRC)
- Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIB)
- Open Water Safety Craft (OWSC)
- USMC Dive Boats (MCDB)
- Maintain and troubleshoot outboard engine systems, including Evinrude and Mercury engines.
- Assist with preventative maintenance scheduling, inspections, and repairs.
- Ensure equipment remains mission capable and operationally ready.
- Develop daily operational reports and readiness briefings for amphibious boating operations.
- Provide technical advice and recommendations regarding boat team operations, training, and readiness.
- Support amphibious operations at training locations in Hawaii, California, Georgia, and Alabama.
- Conduct maintenance training and instruction for unit personnel.
- Deliver weekly, quarterly, and annual classroom training on organic equipment.
- Maintain the boat locker technical publications library in accordance with Marine Corps orders.
- Utilize GCSS-MC or similar systems to support maintenance and logistics tracking.
- Maintain equipment records, readiness reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and equipment specifications.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Position involves both office work and hands-on maintenance in field environments
- Frequent travel to multiple boat locker locations in Texas, Hawaii, California, Georgia, and Alabama; travel may include overnight stays.
WORK CONDITIONS
- Work may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, waterborne environments, and marine equipment operations.
- Physical requirements include lifting, carrying, and maneuvering equipment and tools; ability to climb, bend, and work in confined spaces around boats and docks.
- Work may involve standing or walking for extended periods, and occasional operation of small watercraft.
- Employees must adhere to safety protocols, wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when required, and maintain situational awareness around watercraft and maintenance equipment.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizen
- Active Secret clearance, or ability to obtain one
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year experience with GCSS-MC or similar maintenance/logistics systems
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel to multiple boat locker sites
- Candidates must be able to obtain certification to maintain or operate:
- Evinrude E-TEC outboards
- USMC Multi-Fuel Engine (MFE)
- Mercury Verado outboards
- Combat Rubber Reconnaissance Craft (CRRC)
- Enhanced CRRC
- RHIB Coxswain
- Open Water Safety Craft Coxswain
- USMC Dive Boat Coxswain
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of U.S. military watercraft maintenance or instruction experience
- Prior service in Marine Reconnaissance, Amphibious Recon, or similar maritime units
- Experience maintaining:
- CRRC / E-CRRC craft
- RHIB platforms
- USMC small boat systems
- Maintenance Quality Control experience
- Familiarity with Marine Forces Reserve operations
- Experience working with Recon units or amphibious operations programs
