The ideal candidate for this exciting position would be a critical thinker with a deep understanding of their subject, who is curious and keen to handle manuscripts across a broad area of scientific research, and who has a strong interest in cancer research and oncology. Candidates with expertise in data and computational science, including omics and artificial intelligence approaches are of particular interest, but strong candidates in any cancer-related biomedical area are encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate will also be highly motivated, able to work well both independently and in a team environment and have excellent communication skills.

The position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis and can be based in our Beijing, Madrid, Nanjing or Shanghai offices on a hybrid working pattern.

  • Write Research Highlight and Editorials.
  • Engage with the scientific community via travel to conferences and research institutions.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

Essential

  • A PhD or MD in cancer-relevant biomedical (or closely related) areas, though we are particularly seeking candidates with expertise in data and computational science, including omics and artificial intelligence approaches.

  • The ability to absorb and understand new areas of research.
  • Excellent literary skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Postdoctoral experience is a plus but not essential.
  • Editorial experience is not required, as full training is given, although applicants with significant editorial experience are encouraged to apply and will potentially be considered for the Senior Editor position.

To apply, please submit as 1 document:

  • a CV detailing your education, employment history, list of published scientific papers, and any achievements demonstrating your suitability for the position
  • a cover letter explaining why you would like to join the team and your relevant experience
  • A concise discussion of recent scientific developments that you have found particularly exciting. This should be in the form of a Nature Cancer News & Views article but not on a Nature Cancer paper and must not be AI-generated.
  • A list of 6 articles from the peer-reviewed literature that in your view encapsulate the journal's scope, explaining each selection in 2-3 sentences and without use of AI tools.
