About the Role
<p>The Office of the Second Judicial District Attorney improves the quality of life of the citizens of Bernalillo County by reducing crime through thoughtful enforcement of the law and the development of a criminal justice system.&nbsp; The Office is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer and is seeking applicants for a Strategic Crime Analyst position.&nbsp; The Strategic Crime Analyst performs detailed professional-level analytical work in the area of crime analysis and data-driven prosecution in Albuquerque, New Mexico. &nbsp;</p><p><strong>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</strong>: This position will be responsible for investigating, analyzing and processing large and diverse data sets using quantitative and qualitative methods to produce a complete data model of crime and prosecution trends in Bernalillo County; will compile, merge and manage criminal justice, socioeconomic, demographic and geographic data for complex statistical and predictive analyses; prepare and present written reports, presentations, and detailed statistical reports, including charts, graphs and exhibits to trial attorneys and decision makers; conduct geographic information systems (GIS) analyses to generate crime maps, and perform spatial analyses of hot spots and crime drivers; perform case level investigations and link analysis using diverse data sources; study current literature on research methodology and law enforcement issues, and make appropriate. recommendations for improvements in crime analysis and data-driven prosecution practices. Must have knowledge of analytic software application such as R-Studio (or comparable); knowledge of SQL, spreadsheets, and cell phone data extractions; ability to identify, research and gather relevant information from a variety of sources; read and interpret complex written materials; analyze and evaluate data, procedures, interrelated processes and other information; formulate conclusions and/or alternatives and develop effective recommendations; the ability to prepare well-organized and accurate documents such as reports, memos, and correspondence; synthesize ideas and factual information into clear and logical written statements; manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and expectations, communicate effectively and work collaboratively with law enforcement professionals.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong>&nbsp;<br><br>- BA/BS from an accredited college or university with major coursework in specialized subject matter areas such as social network analysis, graph theory, public or business administration, management, urban studies, economics, statistical analysis, finance, accounting, criminology or a comparable field;&nbsp;</p><p><br>&nbsp;- A minimum of 2 years of experience performing professional-level analytical work in one or more of the following functional areas: complex crime analysis, complex budget analysis, development and administration; complex financial/fiscal analysis and reporting; development and evaluation of complex management/administrative policy; complex economic analysis; or complex network analysis.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;- Demonstrate strong technical and interpersonal skills.&nbsp;<br><br>&nbsp;- Strong decision making, problem solving and strategic thinking skills.</p><p><br>&nbsp;- Excellent oral and written communication skills.</p><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications: </strong></p><p>&nbsp;- MBA, MA, MS or higher graduate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in specialized subject matter areas such as social network analysis, graph theory, public or business administration, management, urban studies, economics, statistical analysis, finance, accounting, criminology or comparable field.&nbsp;</p><p><br>&nbsp;- Professional experience in a law enforcement agency as a crime analyst.</p><p><strong>Additional:</strong></p><p>Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment. Some physical effort and travel may be required.</p><p>Salary is commensurate with experience.
