About the Role

Overview

Acts as collaborative member of the clinical team in providing continuity and quality care to patients. Initiates patient care assessments, gathers vital signs, prepares patient and exam room for procedures, draw up meds and give injections. Provide patient educations and support as needed to assist providers, patients and family.

 

Answer and return phone calls pertaining to patients medical/clinical questions and concerns. Schedules patients for diagnostic tests and surgeries, Coordinates with scheduling department and patient’s regarding tests and surgeries. Gathers and records financial and insurance information. Distributes testing and surgery information to patients.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

 

Education: 

High school diploma or GED required.

 

Licensure/Certification:

Certified Medical Assistant required. 

 

Experience:

Minimum of one year clinic experience in clinic setting.  Phlebotomy experience preferred. Previous customer service experience preferred. Typing, word processing, computer, and telephone skills preferred. Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience in Athena is preferred, but not required. 

 

Additional Skills/Abilities:

Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.  Must be able to use computer, fax machine and copy machine. Must be detail oriented and work well in a team environment. Experience with GPMS/EMR is desired. BCLS must be received within the orientation period.
