About the Role

Description

Job Title: Family Care Worker (shift)

Reports To: Program Coordinator


Summary of the Job:

Family Care Worker is responsible for daily guidance and support of client. The FCW assists clients to achieve the goals of individual service plan. The FCW should be committed to Sanctuary practice utilizing tools that reinforce our shared language to create a trauma-responsive culture.


Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Provide on-going support of clients.
  2. Documentation per program procedures.
  3. Lead the clients in establishing ways of living together and managing their daily productive lives per individual service plan.
  4. Develop and lead group meetings as needed.
  5. Respond appropriately to crisis situations using de-escalating techniques.
  6. Transport clients as required.
  7. Utilize personal safety plan for managing emotions and interactions with staff and clients.
  8. Provide appropriate behavior management techniques according to agency guidelines.
  9. Help build and maintain a positive environment for clients.
  10. Maintain program facility including minor maintenance, cleanliness and upkeep of grounds and buildings.
  11. Teach clients procedures for upkeep of assigned facility and grounds.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Teach clients hygiene, good health, safety habits, money management and other life skills per individual service plans.
  2. Plan devotion time or other religious education opportunities with clients.
  3. Participate in staff meetings, intakes, conferences, treatment team meetings and other meetings as required.
  4. Conduct weekly inspections of client housing as needed within agency guidelines.
  5. Represent agency favorably at all time.
  6. Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Qualifications:

  1. At least 25 years of age
  2. Must have
  • High School/GED with two years of direct service experience with children and families
  • OR
  • Associates /Bachelor’s degree or higher in a behavioral or social science field.
  1. Have the physical ability, energy, flexibility and maturity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job to include performance of Emergency Safety Interventions including physical control positions.
  2. Establish positive relationships with clients and others.
  3. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Ability to follow structured routines.
  5. Develop and utilize appropriate childcare skills.
  6. Display a Christian character.
  7. Basic computer skills (minimum Word and E-Mail).

Ongoing Qualifications:

  • Agree to abide by all the policies, rules, guidelines and regulations of the Georgia Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministries, Inc.
  • Exhibit tactfulness and good judgment in dealing with people
  • Familiar with traditional Baptist tenets, customs and practices and shall maintain a compatible lifestyle
  • Meet all employee guidelines and qualifications as outlined by GBCH & FM, license, contracts and accreditation.

  • Utilize the Sanctuary Model of Care and conduct job responsibilities in a traumaresponsive manner.
  • Have the ability to work in partnership with other members in a team approach
  • Arrive to work on time and as scheduled
  • Achieve and accomplish annual goals assigned by supervisor or provide acceptable documentation as to why goals were not met.
  • Understanding of confidential issues and protected information assigned under HIPAA
  • Complete required staff development hours within the program including 24 hours in child care related training, current CPR, 1st Aid and approved emergency safety intervention training
  • Annual physical
  • Favorable MVR and fingerprint results
  • Maintain valid State Driver’s License as required
  • Maintain the physical ability to operate agency vehicles and to carry out essential job duties to include performance of Emergency Safety Interventions including physical control positions
