About the Role

Position Title:                         Financial Analyst 

Reports To:                             Director, Finance and Treasury

Location:                                 Atlanta, GA (*On-site)

 * Incumbent must work in office in Atlanta four (4) days per week and may work remotely one (1) day per week with manager approval

Summary:

The Financial Analyst will be an integral part of the Finance Team and will report to the Director, Finance and Treasury. This is a shared-resource position that provides an opportunity to be exposed to a number of activities in the Investments, Debt Management, and Financial Planning & Analysis areas. The Analyst will also be responsible for the creation and maintenance of complex Excel based financial models. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of finance and accounting principles. The candidate is expected to be able to perform tasks under tight deadlines often without advance notice.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

The scope and duties of this position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of MEAG Power.

  • Prepares month-end accounting entries including accrued interest, unamortized premium and discount on all outstanding MEAG Power debt and verifies entries prepared by others.
  •  Leads the design, creation, and updates of complex Excel financing models, analyzes financial data and provides forecasting support.
  •  Helps drive key insights, analytics, and improvements within the team and department.
  •  Updates MEAG Power debt databases.
  •  Generates reports, graphs and charts as requested using Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point and/or other financial applications.
  •  Performs other duties and works on special projects in the Finance area as required. 

Required Skills:

  • High degree of analytical financial capability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Basic accounting knowledge, documentation skills, and research skills.
  • Experience in developing and preparing financial models.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or Mathematics.
  • 0 - 3 years related experience, demonstrating a progression in responsibilities.
  • 1 - 3 years of direct corporate/project finance experience is a plus / preferred.
  • Strong technical skills, with advanced Excel capabilities, including use of macros.
  • Strong written and verbal skills required.
  • Demonstrated success in financial modeling and analysis.
  • Capable of critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Maturity/judgment to work with confidential information.
  • Ability to manage tasks to meet required deadlines and make decisions under time constraints.
  • Strong business acumen with a desire to make positive impacts on our business.
  • Strong knowledge of finance and accounting principles with direct corporate finance related analyst experience highly desirable.
