Quality Inspector I Weekends

Position Overview
The Quality Inspector I is responsible for the testing and inspection of products at various stages of production process in compliance with applicable codes and standards. Supporting pole, kitting, final inspection (pole), and galvanize/paint outsource.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform repetitive inspection following standard methods and procedures
- Visually inspect product using a variety of precision measuring instruments
- Check dimensions and finishes against blueprint or work order specifications
- Mark test parts with appropriate language per job specifications
- Initiate accept/reject decisions and know when to call more qualified individuals for marginal evaluations
- Contain defective material at source
- Keep accurate inspection records
- Perform finishing operations to correct rejected parts
- Inspect and calibrate test equipment; document dates and results
- Assist with production as required
- Assist with root cause investigation of material defects or other problem-solving activities.
- Read blue prints
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
- Consistently demonstrate and promote MMC Core Values
- Ensure use of safe work procedures and wear all required PPE. Promptly report all injuries and unsafe conditions
- Maintain a favorable working relationship with coworkers to promote a cooperative working climate conducive to maximum productivity, efficiency and effectiveness

- Maintains 5S guidelines
- Communicate relevant information and concerns positively and effectively to others in timely manner
- Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements
- Enter job data in production tracking system
- Seek and perform alternate, productive tasks to keep busy during unexpected down time
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested
Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Responsibilities
- Preferred candidates will have background knowledge in inspection, be able to read a tape measure and blueprints, and use basic hand tools as well as a caliper and micrometer. Other combinations of formal training and experience may be considered.
- Computer literate; particularly in word processing, spreadsheet, email, and shop floor control, applications
- Ability to solve practical problems and make decisions within a set of guidelines
- Ability to read and understand required internal manufacturing paperwork
- Ability to electronically record production information
- Effective and appropriate oral communication skills
- Work with others as part of a high performing team
- Adapt to changing work priorities
- Able to work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or procedures

The usual and customary methods of performing the job functions require using fingers to handle objects, tools, and controls while coordinating the use of foot to operate floor pedal. Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 25% walking, and 70% standing. Some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and occasional reaching above shoulders with hands and arms may also be required. The employee may be required to push and/or pull up to 75 pounds; lift and/or carry 30 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear to communicate with others. The noise level in the production environment is loud, consistent with normal shop conditions. The job is performed under some temperature variations. Specific vision abilities required for this position are determined by industry credentialing standards.
