About the opportunity


The Student Resources Assistant is primarily responsible for providing basic directional and informational support to library users. They engage in collection maintenance tasks and quickly adapt to new tasks and technologies to maintain efficient library operations.

The Student Resources Assistant works under supervision, performing tasks as directed and in accordance with defined responsibilities. They apply current processes to complete work tasks with some scope to vary methods of work. They also resolve routine matters related to responsibilities and work under supervision to resolve more complex matters

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide basic directional guidance to library visitors and refer complex enquiries to appropriate staff members

  • provide high-quality customer service by understanding the basic functions and services of the library to meet client needs

  • engage in library stocktake processes, and collection maintenance activities, including shelving returned items, maintaining order, and supporting collection relocation efforts within set timeframes.

  • operate library-related technologies to carry out work activities.

  • learn new tasks rapidly and contribute ideas to solve basic challenges that come up in day-to-day work.

  • assist in compiling data for reports, ensuring the information aligns with university systems, and help the team adhere to basic compliance standards.

  • assist with administrative tasks.

  • follow established health and safety guidelines, promptly report any hazards, and ensure personal workspace is maintained in a safe and orderly manner.

  • undertakes ad-hoc projects and other activities
