Do you have a passion for history and a gift for storytelling? Step back in time with us! We are seeking an engaging Historic Sites Interpreter to bring local history to life at the Jesse James Birthplace, the Bank Museum, Mt. Gilead Church, and Pharis Farm.
The Role:
As an Interpreter, you’ll be the face of our historic sites, leading tours and programs for visitors of all ages. Whether you’re donning period attire, demonstrating historic crafts, or leading a school group through a 19th-century cabin, your goal is to make history interactive and memorable.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead Interpretive Tours: Share the stories of our region through engaging, hands-on tours and demonstrations.
- Customer Service & Retail: Welcome guests, manage admissions/gift shop sales, and provide local tourism info.
- Site Support: Assist with special events, program development, and basic research.
- Operations: Help with opening/closing duties and maintaining a presentable environment for our guests.
What We’re Looking For:
- History Buffs: A genuine passion for 19th-century American and Civil War history.
- Great Communicators: Ability to engage diverse audiences and adapt to different learning styles.
- Flexible Teammates: Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Requirements: Must be at least 16 years old. A high school diploma (or current enrollment) is required; a background in History or Education is a plus!
- Mobility: Ability to traverse uneven terrain and lift up to 50 lbs. A valid Missouri driver’s license is preferred.
