Job Summary
B&A is seeking a Declassification Specialist to support the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) at Naval Reactors Headquarters. In this role, you will conduct declassification reviews of NNPP records in compliance with Executive Order 13526 and applicable guidance.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, excellent administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to manage complex workflows. This role involves reviewing a variety of classified documents, ensuring proper handling and disposition, coordinating with multiple agencies as needed, evaluating and developing policy and procedures, and support information protection compliance evaluations and audits.
Responsibilities
- Execute day-to-day declassification and document review tasks as assigned by Naval Reactors, with priorities coordinated by B&A management
- Conduct systematic FOIA, MDR, litigation, referral, and records management reviews
- Identify, properly mark, and refer documents to other agencies as required
- Ensure strict compliance with all applicable policies, guides, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Perform "Go/No-Go" reviews and public utterance assessments
- Manage administrative and program support functions to ensure smooth operations, including: Grading, data collection, and tracking of program metrics, conducting research, analysis, and reporting to support program decision-making, updating SOPs, reviewing training materials, and managing documentation, handling, uploading, and distributing sensitive documents, providing general administrative support to the program as needed, and creating, maintaining, and establishing programs across multiple platforms.
- Coordinate daily with Naval Reactors to prioritize workload and ensure timely task completion
- Represent B&A professionally on-site and maintain strong working relationships
- Collaborate effectively with peers, Naval Reactors personnel, and other stakeholders
- Support ad-hoc assignments and RDRP tasks to meet evolving program needs
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of related experience in declassification, records management, or administrative program support
- Additional relevant experience may be substituted for a degree
Required Skills
- Current DOD Top Secret and DOE “Q” clearance, with the ability to maintain them
- Familiarity with the Naval Reactors Program and its equity is desired
- Familiarity working with federal agencies
- Government relations and networking - Developing strategies to influence decisions and building/maintaining relationships with officials
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, including proficiency in:
- o Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- o SharePoint
- o BlueBeam or PDF markup tools
- Excellent reading comprehension, attention to detail, and ability to follow complex instructions
- Ability to review and
- Interpret complex regulations for compliance
- Ability to manage sensitive information with integrity and discretion
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, and respectfulness in the workplace
- Ability to sit and work with paper and computer-based records for extended periods (8+ hours/day)
- Capable of working independently and meeting deadlines without direct supervision
Security Clearance
- Active Q clearance or Top-Secret clearance.
