Our Survey Division utilizes the latest technology to ensure the accurate and precise construction of our projects. This highly skilled team supports grading and paving operations by outfitting equipment with GPS technology and providing project support using advanced surveying tools such as total stations, robotics, and machine control systems.
Survey crews play a critical role in the successful construction of large infrastructure projects including highways, large site developments, and port facilities.
Position Overview
The Survey Rodman assists the Survey Superintendent and/or Survey Crew Chiefs on project sites with construction staking, general survey functions, and machine control setup and monitoring.
This individual helps locate and establish construction reference points and supports survey crews in collecting accurate field measurements used to guide construction operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the Survey Superintendent and Survey Crew Chiefs with field survey operations
- Load and unload surveying equipment into field trucks
- Operate a prism (EDM) pole and other surveying instruments
- Assist in measuring lines, grades, and elevations
- Utilize rod, tape, and prism poles to collect field measurements
- Support construction staking and reference point establishment
- Assist with machine control setup and monitoring
- Perform safety/flagging duties when required
- Clear brush or obstructions to establish survey lines
- Drive hubs and establish survey points as directed
- Maintain equipment and ensure proper care of all company property
- Keep accurate records of daily field activities
- Assist crew members with general survey tasks
- Perform other duties as assigned
