About the Role
Description
Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Classification: Clinical Staff
Primary Function: Provide professional laboratory service and assistance to the physicians, staff, and patients of Arkansas Central Primary Care by working as a team to ensure quality healthcare.
Maintaining the laboratory draw area and supplies to provide these services.
Reports to: Laboratory Supervisor
Typical Duties
- Performs Venipuncture and fingersticks necessary for collecting specimens fortesting.
- Must be proficient in the correct order of draw when multiple tubes are collected.
- Collect and prepare patient samples for laboratory analysis following the guidelines set forth in the JMC laboratory policy and procedure manual. This includes preparing samples for delivery to outside reference laboratories.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment meeting all Osha requirements.
- Process patient orders using EMDS and Labdaq to prepare labels for patient samples.
- Keep draw room and patient bathrooms stocked with supplies.
- Attends and participates in all in-service, department, and clinic mandatory meetings.
- Meets attendance standards.
- Performs other duties assigned by administration.
Requirements
Prerequisites:
- Must be a high school graduate.
- Must have a working knowledge of OSHA/HIPPA regulations.
- Must have proficient Venipuncture and fingerstick skills with minimum 1 year experience
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand 6-8 hours daily.
- Must be able to assist a patient standing, walking, and getting on/off exam tables or equipment.
- Must be able to multitask and work in stressful situations.
