About the Role

Description

The FOIA and Privacy Analyst (Journeyman/Intermediate) supports Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act operations for a federal customer. This role is responsible for processing FOIA requests, supporting privacy compliance documentation, and ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies. The analyst handles sensitive, unclassified information in accordance with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process FOIA requests, including conducting record searches, reviewing records, applying exemptions, and performing redactions.
  • Draft FOIA correspondence, including acknowledgment letters, interim responses, and final determination letters.
  • Support privacy compliance documentation workflows, including Privacy Threshold Analyses (PTAs), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), System of Records Notices (SORNs), and Privacy Act statements.
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with FOIA and Privacy Act requirements, regulations, and agency policies.
  • Maintain case files and documentation in approved case management systems.
  • Coordinate with program offices, legal counsel, and government stakeholders as needed to support request processing.
  • Protect sensitive and Privacy Act–protected information in accordance with DHS/USCG security and privacy rules of behavior.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or Master’s degree (MA/MS).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant FOIA and/or privacy-related experience.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of FOIA processing, including record searches, application of exemptions, redaction, and drafting correspondence.
  • Ability to support privacy compliance documentation workflows, including PTAs, PIAs, SORNs, and Privacy Act statements.

Eligibility & Compliance:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DHS/USCG suitability and access to sensitive, unclassified information, including Privacy Act–protected data.

Work Environment

  • Location: Washington, DC (On-site/Hybrid as approved by the customer)
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM ET (excluding Federal holidays)
