Strategically sets overall buyer/material goals to meet company’s product and service fulfillment needs by identifying those suppliers who provide highest quality products, at the least price that meet Coilplus delivery standards for timeliness. Reviews big proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Develops and puts into effect approved objectives, policies, and programs to govern purchasing activities. Performs duties in compliance with all applicable laws and consistent with best industry practices. 

Job Duties/Responsibilities: 

Supports Supplier Management processes (e.g., qualification, selection, evaluation, development, classification); updates supplier evaluation systems to obtain and develop the best suppliers, ensures transparency and high procurement quality. Adjusts supplier records in SSM process, when suppliers’ performance changes. Maintains procurement records including products or services purchased, costs, timeliness of delivery, product quality and current inventory.

Collaborates with key divisional team members to comply with applicable company policies ensuring clarity of the specifications and achievement of the company's expectations.

Works with team to ensure that purchase sources deliver purchases at the quantity, for the price promised, at the quality specified and with the desired timeframe. Follows-up on major/key purchase orders to ensure delivery per agreed schedule. Approves discrepancies on steel and outside (services) invoices. Manages inventory of office supplies and services.

Leads a small team in accomplishing department objectives. Drives success by motivating team to excel by recognizing achievements, providing guidance to those whose achievements fall short, giving training to those who need to improve their skill set, planning department activities and balancing out workloads. Maintains high quality staff by recruiting and selecting the best candidates, and once selected providing orientation, and training so they can reach proficiency levels quickly. Ensures a safe, secure, and legal work environment. Develops personal growth opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Strong strategic and analytical skills are needed.
  • Must have good leadership skills to lead a small, but important function. 
  • Travel to meet with suppliers, vendors and other personnel is necessary

 Experience & Education: 

  • BA in Business or similar discipline is required.
  • 7+ years of prior work experience in ever increasing roles in purchasing is required with st least 3 being in a leadership role
  • Prior experience in purchasing and inventory control in metals fabrication company is desired
