Job Description

ABOUT US:

Our purpose-built tools and services cater to the individual marketing needs of sportsbooks and media publishers worldwide. Imagine working in an environment surrounded by sports data, live play-by-play statistics, virtual sports, microservices, and betting – all while maintaining an agile mindset and a commitment to delivering exceptional value for our customers.

We’re passionate about our work and deeply care about our people. If you’re ready for the challenge, join us in growing, innovating, and developing.

Within this ecosystem, the Platform Engineering team plays a critical role in enabling product teams to build, deploy, and operate services reliably and efficiently. The team works closely with developers, security specialists, DevOps engineers, and architects to deliver scalable infrastructure and platform capabilities. Sportradar invests heavily in automation and accessibility services, and our growing platform engineering function is responsible for operating and evolving our central data and infrastructure platform across cloud and on-premise environments.

Our infrastructure consists of thousands of physical and virtual machines and includes managed services, databases, streaming services, Kubernetes clusters, and services running across several physical data centers as well as Amazon Web Services (AWS). The Platform Engineering team ensures that our engineering teams can innovate quickly while maintaining high standards for reliability, security, and performance.

THE CHALLENGE:

As a Platform Engineering Manager, you will lead and support a team responsible for building and operating our internal platforms that power our data and application ecosystem. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable infrastructure, scalable platform services, and automation capabilities that enable engineering teams to develop and operate products efficiently.

You will collaborate with architects, developers, and security teams on the technical architecture and implementation of new platform capabilities, ensuring that infrastructure and data platform services evolve alongside product needs. You will also play a key role in shaping the platform roadmap, driving technical improvements, and fostering a strong engineering culture within your team.

From a technical perspective, our platform supports multiple cloud-native and hybrid workloads running across AWS and on-premise environments. Our infrastructure stack includes Kubernetes clusters, distributed data systems, managed cloud services, monitoring and observability platforms, and infrastructure-as-code solutions used to manage environments consistently and efficiently.

As a leader, you will help guide the technical direction of the platform engineering team, support team members in their professional growth, and ensure that the platform continues to provide reliable, secure, and scalable capabilities for the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a self-organised, agile platform engineering team responsible for infrastructure and platform product offering.
• Collaborate with architects and development teams to design and implement platform capabilities that support new products and services.
• Drive automation and infrastructure-as-code practices to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability across the platform.
• Ensure high standards for reliability, observability, security, and operational excellence across platform services.
• Oversee monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Evaluate, select, and implement new tools and technologies that improve developer productivity and platform capabilities.
• Coach and develop team members by providing feedback, mentorship, and technical guidance.
• Foster a collaborative engineering culture and promote best practices across platform and product teams.

ABOUT YOU:

• Proven experience leading or mentoring engineers within infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, or SRE environments.
• Hands-on experience with Linux administration and operating distributed systems in production environments.
• Experience working with public cloud infrastructures such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Proven experience developing or working on a product codebase (internal or customer-facing)
• Familiarity with container platforms and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus or similar solutions.
• Good understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and high availability architectures.
• Experience working in an agile or lean development environment.
• Strong communication skills, ownership mindset, and ability to collaborate across engineering teams.
• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and share technical knowledge within the team.
• Positive, collaborative team player with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.

OUR OFFER:

• A collaborative environment with colleagues from all over the world (Engineering offices in Europe, Asia and US).
• Ability to shape your own workday and career via a clearly defined professional and personal development plan.
• Opportunity to work with senior leadership, develop yourself and build your career within an inspiring and fast-growing company and digital sports environment.
• A vibrant and inclusive community, including Women in Tech and Pride groups which welcome all participants.
• A company culture that promotes social aspects, sports, physical exercise and fun.
• Innovative and cross-team challenges like ShipIt, office sports tournaments in Darts and Table Tennis and unique beer brewing competitions.
• Competitive salary and benefits (e.g. retirement pension and insurance plan).

OUR RECRUITMENT PROCESS:

• Initial Screening: A quick chat with our Talent Acquisition Partner to understand your background and expectations.
• Technical Interview: Discussion with platform engineers to review your experience with infrastructure, distributed systems, and cloud technologies.
• Leadership & Culture Interview: Conversation with senior leadership about your management approach and collaboration across teams.
• Final Steps: Receive final feedback and, if successful, an offer.

We keep it simple and aim to wrap up the process within 3 weeks.
